The Sony A7C is jam packed with features that make this camera suitable for any professional level user or enthusiast who wants to take the next step up. Together, a stunning 24.2 megapixel back-illuminated Exmor R sensor and a BINOZ X processor product beautifully clear and clarity-rich images, worth of any pro-level camera. The ultimate goal of this camera is to refine its features, bringing a smaller form factor but still including those attributes that make higher-end cameras shine. A new body structure and internal layout highlight where Sony has chosen to downsize, along with two areas with newly developed, more compact components: a new 5-axis in-body optical image stabilisation unit and electromagnetic-drive shutter system. The A7C can also film beautiful 4K video footage with all your pro-video features as well as ease-of-use operation including a top-panel record button and a side-opening vari-angle touch LCD, allowing for intuitive touch focus tracking.

    New Compact Size

The goal of this camera is to provide all the high-performance features of Sony's professional mirrorless camera lineup and pack them into a smaller, more compact body. But, of course, the pro-level internals are too big and to achieve the ultimate goal, Sony has developed all new parts. To start with, a target chassis size and layout was revised. Lying somewhere between the size of the A7 III and the A6600, Sony designed a lightweight and durable monocoque frame to house the new internal design. Next, a newly developed compact 5-axis in-body optical image stabilisation unit was introduced that offers a pro-standard 5.0 steps of stabilisation. Along the theme of reduces size, Sony also developed a new compact shutter unit. This new unit adopts a compact electromagnetic-drive shutter which provides professional performance at a fraction of the size.

    Autofocus and Continuous Shooting

Sony A7C sees a versatile autofocus system that sees aspects borrowed from this camera's cousin, the A&R IV. The A7C has a wide AF coverage of 93% across the entire frame, including 693 phase-detection points and 425 contrast-detection points. The autofocus is reliable down to EV-4 meaning you can utilise the camera's low light capabilities. When it comes to tracking, this is where we see the same tech that's found in the A7R IV. It's features very same and impressively accurate real-time tracking and real-time eye autofocus for both humans and animals. Equally, this borrowing from pro-bodies is why the A7C has such effective continuous shooting. It can capture up to 115 RAW compressed and 223 JPEG images. You'll achieve 10fps continuous shooting with AF/AE in both standard and silent shooting modes, meaning you'll never miss a shot!

    Professional Video Footage

Thanks to the full-frame sensor and 4K capabilities, immediately the A7C is able to capture the cinematic feel that both pro and enthusiast users look for when filmmaking. Again, the A7C takes onboard attributes from other Sony mirrorless cameras and that enables this camera to shine when it comes to video work. There's clean 4K oversampled (6K) with no pixel binning as well as true-to-life images thanks to its Hybrid log gamma HLG. Colour and skin tones reproduction has been designed to provide natural and accurate colours; and the camera offers SLOG3 and SLOG2 Pro grading formats, too.

Sony has taken the autofocus system from their A7R IV camera body which means the Sony A7C an incredibly fast and accurate hybrid AF, real-time Eye AF, real-time touch tracking and AF-ON quick focus. As well as this, the same AF Speed setting that's seen in the A7s III. What all of this means is, in that you will have the power of some of Sony's top-end cameras in a compact and magnificently versatile mirrorless camera body.
